After welcoming 85 local first responders to its inaugural appreciation breakfast last year, Envirotech Heating & Cooling is bringing the event back from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at its Shawnee location. The breakfast was inspired by owner James Gallet’s personal connections to first responders. Members of his extended family and close circle of friends have served in police and fire departments, including a relative who has been a volunteer firefighter for more than 40 years. Several Envirotech employees also have immediate family members working in law enforcement and firefighting. Last year, entire teams stopped by together while on duty. This year, police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, dispatchers and emergency-response teams from throughout the Kansas City area are again invited to enjoy a free breakfast served by Chris Cakes. First responders are welcome to stop by whether they are on duty or off duty, individually or with their teams. Advance registration is appreciated to help Envirotech plan for food, but it is not required.
